Step 01
Signs
• Dishwasher stops mid-cycle and displays C4 error code on the control panel
• No water circulation or weak water spray during wash cycle
• Unusual grinding, squealing, or humming noises from the dishwasher
• Wash cycle fails to complete normally
• Water remains inside the tub after cycle attempts to finish
• Dishwasher may not start a new cycle after error occurs
• Control panel lights may flicker or dim when error appears
Step 02
Possible Causes
• Wash motor has failed or is experiencing mechanical wear
• Motor control board or electronic control module has a malfunction
• Loose or corroded electrical connections to the wash motor
• Broken or damaged motor wiring harness
• Circulation pump impeller is jammed or blocked by debris
• Power supply issues affecting motor operation on 120V circuit
• Capacitor failure in the motor control circuit
• Defective motor thermal overload protection tripped
• Control board component failure detecting motor operation
Step 03
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Check your home circuit breaker to ensure the dishwasher circuit has not tripped; reset if necessary and attempt to run a cycle
• Inspect the dishwasher interior for visible debris, broken dish pieces, or foreign objects that may be blocking the spray arms or pump
• Remove and clean both upper and lower spray arms by hand; ensure all spray holes are clear of food particles or buildup
• Verify the dishwasher door is closing completely and the latch is engaging with a firm click
• Cancel the current cycle and check that the control panel settings are correct for your desired wash cycle
• Perform a hard reset by turning OFF the dedicated circuit breaker to the dishwasher for 60 seconds, then turn it back ON to allow the control board to reinitialize
• Run a test cycle with the dishwasher empty to determine if the error reappears
• Ensure the dishwasher is receiving proper 120V power by plugging a small lamp into a nearby outlet to verify electrical supply
• Check that nothing is physically blocking or restricting the wash pump motor area under the tub
• Allow the dishwasher to cool for 15 minutes if it recently completed a cycle, as thermal protection may have activated
