Signs

Possible Causes
• Faulty or disconnected thermal fuse (common failure point in 240V GE dryers)
• Malfunctioning temperature sensor or thermistor
• Broken or damaged moisture sensor preventing accurate moisture detection
• Loose or corroded electrical connections in the heating circuit
• Blocked or restricted exhaust vent causing heat accumulation and sensor shutdown
• Defective thermal cut-off switch
• Wiring harness damage or loose connectors in the control assembly
• Control board or timer malfunction unable to read sensor signals
• Lint and debris accumulation affecting sensor operation
Step 03
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Check your home's circuit breaker panel and ensure the dryer's 240V circuit breaker (or dual 120V breakers) is in the ON position; reset if tripped
• Remove and clean the lint filter thoroughly, then inspect the filter housing for lint accumulation
• Inspect the dryer's exhaust vent opening on the exterior of your home to ensure it is not blocked, crushed, or clogged with lint
• If accessible, trace the exhaust duct from the dryer outlet to the exterior and remove any visible lint blockages
• Verify the dryer door is closing completely and the door latch is engaging properly
• Review your dryer's current cycle settings on the control panel and ensure you are selecting an appropriate heat setting
• Allow the dryer to cool for 15-20 minutes without use, then attempt to run a test cycle
• Perform a hard reset by switching OFF the circuit breaker for 60 seconds, then switch it back ON to clear any temporary error codes
• Check that the dryer is properly plugged in (for electric models) and that all visible power connections are secure
• Ensure adequate space around the dryer for proper ventilation and air circulation
