Possible Causes
• Faulty heating element (240V component in most USA models) that has burned out or failed
• Defective thermal sensor or thermistor unable to detect temperature accurately
• Blown thermal fuse due to restricted airflow or overheating
• Loose or disconnected wiring harness to heating element or sensor
• Malfunctioning control board unable to supply power to heating element
• Clogged lint filter or vent system restricting airflow and triggering thermal safety shutdown
• Inadequate 240V power supply or voltage fluctuations at the outlet
Step 03
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Unplug the dryer or turn off the dedicated circuit breaker serving the unit for 60 seconds, then restore power to reset the appliance
• Check that the dryer is plugged into a functioning 240V outlet (or 120V for compact models) and verify the circuit breaker has not tripped
• Remove and inspect the lint filter thoroughly; clean out all accumulated lint and rinse the filter screen
• Verify that the external dryer vent on the back of your home is not blocked by lint, bird nests, or debris
• Ensure the dryer door closes completely and latches properly, as a loose door can trigger safety sensors
• Review the control panel settings to confirm you have selected a heat setting (not air dry or cool down)
• Allow the dryer to cool for 30 minutes if it has been running continuously, then attempt a new drying cycle
• Check inside the dryer cabinet opening for any visible lint blockages or obstructions around the lint trap area
• Verify that your home's electrical panel shows the breaker labeled for the dryer is fully in the ON position
