• Oven beeps continuously or at intervals
• Self-cleaning cycle cannot be initiated or completed
• Door appears physically loose or misaligned
• Control panel becomes unresponsive after F9 appears
Step 02
Possible Causes
• Door latch assembly is broken, bent, or worn out
• Door latch switch is faulty or has failed
• Door is misaligned or not closing properly into the latch mechanism
• Wiring connection to the door latch switch is loose or disconnected
• Control board has failed or has communication issues with the door sensor
• Foreign debris is blocking the latch area preventing proper engagement
• Door hinge is damaged causing misalignment
• Thermal safety interlock is stuck due to residue buildup from cooking spills
Step 03
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Turn off the circuit breaker that powers your GE oven for 60 seconds, then turn it back on to reset the appliance
• Visually inspect the oven door to ensure it closes completely and sits flush with the oven frame
• Open the door fully and check the latch area (located at the bottom center of the door frame) for visible damage, debris, or food particles, and gently clean if needed
• Verify that nothing is obstructing the door from closing, such as racks, thermometers, or food residue
• Ensure the door is not forced or stuck; it should open and close smoothly without resistance
• Check that your home's circuit breaker for the oven is in the ON position and has not tripped
• Allow the oven to cool completely to room temperature if it was recently used, then attempt the reset again
• Review your oven's control panel settings to ensure no special modes (like delay start or sabbath mode) are active
• If the error persists after these steps, do not attempt to disassemble the door latch or control board; contact a certified GE service technician for professional repair
