Safety Checks You Can Do
• Check your home's circuit breaker panel to ensure the breaker serving the refrigerator has not tripped; flip it fully off then back on if needed
• Verify the refrigerator is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not an extension cord or power strip
• Inspect the power cord for visible damage, cuts, or exposed wires from the outlet to the refrigerator
• Ensure the outlet itself is functioning by testing it with another appliance (such as a lamp)
• Clean the condenser coils and vents on the back and underneath the refrigerator to prevent overheating that triggers protective shutdowns
• Check that both refrigerator and freezer doors are closing completely and sealing properly
• Verify all air vents inside the refrigerator are not blocked by food items or ice buildup
• Review and confirm your temperature settings are at recommended levels (37-40°F for fridge, 0°F for freezer)
• Wait 15-20 minutes after the error appears for the refrigerator to automatically reset itself
• Perform a hard reset by switching off the circuit breaker serving the refrigerator for 60 seconds, then switch it back on
• Allow the refrigerator 4-8 hours to stabilize and return to proper operating temperature after a power event
• Document the date and time the error occurred to identify patterns with power outages in your area
