Signs
• Refrigerator compressor cycles on and off erratically
• Temperature display shows inconsistent or fluctuating readings
• Ice maker produces ice inconsistently or stops working entirely
• Both fresh food and freezer compartments fail to maintain proper temperature
• Control panel becomes unresponsive to button inputs
• Refrigerator beeps or chimes repeatedly
• Interior lights flicker or fail to illuminate
• Water dispenser functions intermittently or not at all

Possible Causes
• Loose or corroded wire connections between main control board and temperature sensors
• Faulty thermal sensor in the fresh food section or freezer compartment
• Damaged main electronic control board due to power surge or voltage fluctuation
• Failed defrost timer or defrost control circuit
• Moisture or condensation damage to control board electronics
• Malfunctioning damper control that regulates airflow between compartments
• Failed compressor relay or capacitor on the control board
• Wiring harness disconnection or damage between components

Safety Checks You Can Do
• Check your home circuit breaker panel to ensure the refrigerator's dedicated 120V circuit breaker has not tripped; reset if necessary
• Verify the refrigerator is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the outlet is functioning by testing another appliance
• Clean the condenser coils and vents at the bottom rear of the refrigerator with a vacuum to ensure unrestricted airflow
• Check that both the fresh food and freezer doors close completely and seal properly by inspecting door gaskets for debris or damage
• Review the control panel settings to ensure temperature settings have not been accidentally changed to off or extreme settings
• Allow the refrigerator 30 minutes to stabilize and re-calibrate after any power outages or electrical fluctuations
• Perform a hard reset by turning off the circuit breaker for exactly 60 seconds, then turning it back on to allow the control system to reinitialize
• Remove any items blocking air vents inside the refrigerator or freezer compartments that may cause temperature sensor reading errors
• If the error persists after these steps, contact GE customer service or a certified technician as internal component replacement may be required
