Step 01
Signs
• Oven will not respond to temperature or cooking commands
• Display shows 'LOC' error message
• Control panel buttons are unresponsive or non-functional
• Oven door may be locked and difficult to open
• Unable to start cooking cycles
• Timer and menu functions are inaccessible
Step 02
Possible Causes
• Control lock feature was accidentally activated through the control panel
• Child lock or safety lock was engaged
• Oven door was manually locked during a cooking cycle
• Control panel malfunction causing unintended lock activation
• Power surge or electrical fluctuation triggered safety lock
• Oven is still in cooling mode after self-cleaning cycle
• Defective door latch or lock mechanism
• Software glitch in the oven's control board (common in USA 240V and 120V models)
Step 03
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Check your GE oven's user manual for the specific unlock sequence for your model (typically holding a button for 3-5 seconds)
• Verify the control lock feature is not intentionally activated by reviewing your control panel settings
• Ensure the oven has fully cooled if a self-cleaning cycle was recently completed
• Confirm the oven door is completely closed and not obstructed
• Check that nothing is blocking the door latch mechanism
• Turn off the circuit breaker supplying power to your oven for 60 seconds, then turn it back on to reset the appliance
• Wait 5 minutes after power reset for the oven's control board to fully reinitialize
• If the error persists after reset, unplug the oven or turn off the breaker again and wait an additional 2-3 minutes before attempting to unlock using the control panel
