• Temperature display shows unusual readings or fluctuates rapidly
• Error code F5 appears on the digital display
• Oven may not start a cooking cycle
• Baked goods cook unevenly or at incorrect temperatures
• Oven may lock and prevent normal operation
• Control panel becomes unresponsive
Step 02
Possible Causes
• Temperature sensor (thermistor) is defective or has failed
• Loose or corroded electrical connection between sensor and control board
• Damaged sensor wiring or connector inside the oven cavity
• Control board malfunction affecting sensor signal interpretation
• Sensor positioned incorrectly after cleaning or maintenance
• Power supply fluctuation affecting sensor circuit (240V models)
• Control panel circuit board failure
• Faulty relay or circuit controlling the sensor circuit
Step 03
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Turn off the circuit breaker to your oven for 60 seconds, then turn it back on to reset the appliance
• Verify the circuit breaker switch for your oven has not tripped; reset if necessary
• Ensure the oven door is fully closed and latching properly
• Allow the oven to cool completely for at least 30 minutes before attempting to use it again
• Open the oven door and inspect the interior for any visible obstructions, spills, or debris that may interfere with the sensor
• Check that the oven cavity is clean and the sensor probe (located inside the oven wall) is not blocked or damaged
• Review your oven's control panel settings to ensure no special modes or locks are activated
• Wait 24 hours and attempt to use the oven again to determine if the error was temporary
• Consult your GE oven manual to verify the sensor location in your specific model
• If the error persists after these checks, contact a GE-authorized service technician for professional diagnosis and repair
