• Malfunctioning thermostat unable to regulate temperature
• Broken high-limit thermostat
• Defective terminal block or wiring connection in heating assembly
• 240V power supply issue affecting heating circuits on electric models

Safety Checks You Can Do
• Check and reset your home's circuit breaker for the dryer—switch it completely off for 60 seconds, then back on
• Remove and inspect the lint trap filter for heavy lint accumulation and clean thoroughly
• Verify the external dryer vent is clear of lint, debris, and blockages by checking the outside exhaust opening
• Ensure the dryer door is closing completely and the latch is engaging properly
• Review the current dryer settings to confirm you selected the appropriate heat setting for the load
• Allow the dryer to cool for 15-20 minutes before attempting to restart
• Disconnect the dryer from power for 60 seconds to perform a full system reset, then reconnect and retry
• Check that the dryer is properly plugged in (for electric models) and receiving adequate 240V power
• Clean the area around and behind the dryer to remove lint accumulation that could restrict airflow
• If error persists after these steps, contact a qualified GE service technician or authorized repair center
