Safety Checks You Can Do
• Verify the circuit breaker for your dryer (typically a 240V double-pole breaker) is in the ON position; if tripped, reset it
• Inspect the door seal and around the door frame for accumulated lint or debris and carefully remove any obstructions
• Open and close the door slowly several times to ensure it latches smoothly and you hear a distinct click
• Check that the door closes completely and evenly with no visible gaps around the frame
• Examine the exterior door latch for any visible damage, cracks, or loose components
• Clean around the door strike area (the metal catch on the dryer frame) with a dry cloth to remove lint
• Press firmly on the door to ensure it is seated properly before attempting to start a cycle
• Review your dryer's control panel settings to confirm no lock or hold function is activated
• Allow the dryer to cool for 30 minutes, then attempt to start a new cycle
• Perform a complete reset by turning off the circuit breaker for 60 seconds, then turning it back ON and waiting 5 minutes before attempting to use the dryer again
