Possible Causes
• Faulty oven temperature sensor (RTD probe) connection or failure
• Broken or damaged oven heating element
• Loose or corroded wire connections on the oven circuit
• Control board malfunction detecting sensor signal
• Blown thermal fuse due to power surge on 240V line
• Failed relay or capacitor in the oven control circuit
• Poor connection between control panel and oven cavity
• Moisture or debris affecting sensor readings
Step 03
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Turn off the breaker supplying power to your range for 60 seconds, then turn it back on to reset the appliance
• Check that your home's circuit breaker for the range is in the ON position (GE ranges typically require 240V, 40-50 amp circuit)
• Ensure the oven door is fully closed and latches securely
• Inspect the oven interior for any visible debris, food spillage, or obstructions around heating elements and clear if found
• Verify the cooktop surface is clean and unobstructed
• Allow the range to cool for 30 minutes before attempting to use again
• Check all control panel buttons and knobs are functioning properly and not stuck
• Verify you are selecting the correct oven cooking mode (Bake, Broil, etc.) before starting
• Do not attempt to remove or inspect the temperature sensor or internal wiring yourself
