Step 01
Signs
• Oven will not heat or maintain temperature
• Heating element does not respond to temperature settings
• Digital display shows F10 error code
• Range beeps repeatedly when attempting to use oven
• Cooktop may continue to function normally while oven is disabled
• Oven preheating cycle fails to complete
• Unable to set or adjust oven temperature
Step 02
Possible Causes
• Temperature sensor (RTD sensor) is faulty or has failed
• Loose or corroded wire connection at the temperature sensor
• Damaged or pinched sensor wiring harness inside the oven cavity
• Poor connection at the control board where sensor wires attach
• Sensor probe touching the oven wall or heating element
• Burnt or melted sensor wiring from high heat exposure
• Control board malfunction preventing sensor signal processing
• Factory defect in the RTD sensor assembly
Step 03
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Turn off power to the range at the circuit breaker for 60 seconds, then turn back on to reset the appliance
• Check that the circuit breaker serving the range (typically 40-50 amp for 240V US models) is in the ON position
• Ensure the oven door is fully closed and latches properly
• Clean the oven interior and remove any food debris, spills, or aluminum foil that may obstruct heating elements
• Verify the cooktop surface is clean and no items are blocking vents
• Check that all control knobs and digital settings are in correct positions
• Allow the range to cool completely (at least 2-3 hours) before attempting to use again
• Ensure the range is properly plugged in and connections behind the unit are secure
• Do NOT attempt to access, disconnect, or test the temperature sensor yourself as this requires electrical safety precautions
• If error persists after these steps, contact a certified GE service technician for professional diagnosis and sensor replacement
