Step 02
Possible Causes
• Faulty thermistor sensor in fresh food compartment
• Defective thermistor sensor in freezer compartment
• Loose or disconnected wiring harness to temperature sensors
• Malfunctioning electronic control board unable to read sensor input
• Power supply issue affecting sensor signal transmission
• Contaminated or damaged sensor connectors
• Circuit board failure in refrigeration control module
• Defective temperature display panel unable to communicate with main control board
Step 03
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Verify the circuit breaker controlling the refrigerator is in the ON position; if tripped, turn OFF then back ON
• Unplug the refrigerator from the 120V outlet, wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in to reset the control board
• Ensure refrigerator vents inside the fresh food and freezer compartments are not blocked by food items or frost buildup
• Clean refrigerator vents and condenser coils using a soft brush to improve airflow and sensor accuracy
• Check that refrigerator and freezer doors are fully closed and sealing properly with no gaps
• Review control panel settings to confirm temperature settings match your desired values
• Allow 24 hours for refrigerator to stabilize after power disruptions or after adjusting temperature settings
• Verify refrigerator is not in Sabbath mode or Demo mode if your model has these features
• Ensure the appliance is not located near heat sources and has proper clearance for airflow around exterior vents
• If error persists after 30 minutes, contact GE customer service or an authorized USA service technician for sensor replacement
