Step 01
Signs
• Oven will not heat or reaches only partial temperatures
• Error code F2 displays on the control panel
• Oven beeps repeatedly and locks out cooking functions
• Unable to set or maintain desired cooking temperature
• Oven may shut off mid-cycle
• Control panel becomes unresponsive after error appears
Step 02
Possible Causes
• Temperature sensor (RTD probe) is faulty or damaged
• Loose or corroded wire connections between sensor and control board
• Sensor connector has come unplugged inside the oven cavity
• Temperature sensor wire is pinched, frayed, or broken
• Control board has malfunctioned and cannot read sensor signals
• 240V or 120V power supply to the control board is unstable
• Built-up food debris or grease on sensor element interfering with readings
• Sensor was accidentally damaged during cleaning or food preparation
Step 03
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Turn off power to the oven at the circuit breaker for 60 seconds, then restore power to reset the appliance
• Verify the circuit breaker serving the oven is in the ON position and has not tripped
• Allow the oven to cool completely for at least 30 minutes before attempting to use it again
• Open the oven door and visually inspect the interior for any obvious debris, food buildup, or obstructions around the sensor area
• Check that the oven door closes completely and latches properly—a partially open door can trigger sensor errors
• Review the control panel settings to ensure no special modes or locks are activated
• Unplug any external devices plugged into outlets on the same circuit as your oven, as electrical interference may cause sensor problems
• If the error persists after a full reset, discontinue use and contact a certified GE service technician for sensor replacement or control board diagnosis
