Step 01
Signs
• Freezer not maintaining proper temperature
• Interior temperature rising above safe storage levels
• Error code E5 displaying on control panel
• Compressor running continuously or not cycling properly
• Frost buildup or excessive ice formation inside freezer compartment
• Unusual sounds from the appliance
• Food items not freezing adequately
Step 02
Possible Causes
• Faulty evaporator fan sensor detecting temperature incorrectly
• Defective thermistor or temperature sensing probe
• Loose or disconnected wire harnesses between control board and sensors
• Control board malfunction preventing sensor signal processing
• Ice buildup on sensor blocking temperature detection
• 120V power supply fluctuations affecting sensor calibration
• Corroded sensor connections from moisture exposure
• Failed damper control preventing proper air circulation
Step 03
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Check your home's circuit breaker to ensure the freezer has stable 120V power and is not sharing circuits with high-draw appliances
• Verify the freezer door closes completely and seals properly without air gaps
• Inspect freezer interior vents and air return openings for frost, ice, or food blockage and gently clear any obstructions
• Confirm control panel settings are correct for your desired temperature range (typically -10°F to 0°F)
• Wait 30 minutes after power restoration or temperature adjustment for the freezer to stabilize before evaluating performance
• Perform a hard reset by switching the circuit breaker OFF for 60 seconds, then turning it back ON to clear temporary control board errors
• Ensure the freezer is not overfilled, as blocked vents prevent proper air circulation
• Check that nothing is pressing against exterior vents restricting airflow around the unit
