Step 01
Signs
• Range display shows 'PF' or 'Pf' error code
• Oven or cooktop stops heating mid-cycle
• Clock display resets or flashes
• Control panel becomes unresponsive
• Previously set cooking programs are lost or cleared
• Range may not respond to button presses or temperature adjustments
Step 02
Possible Causes
• Temporary power interruption or brief utility power loss
• Tripped or loose circuit breaker on the 240V range circuit
• Loose electrical connection at the wall outlet or internal terminals
• Power surge from lightning strike or electrical grid fluctuations
• Defective power cord with internal damage or loose connections
• Faulty internal power supply board or relay component
• Issues with the oven or cooktop thermal fuse
• Inadequate electrical grounding in the home's 240V circuit
Step 03
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Check your home's electrical panel and ensure the 240V circuit breaker dedicated to the range is in the ON position; if tripped, switch it OFF then back ON
• Ensure the range is fully plugged into the wall outlet or hardwired connection is secure (do not touch exposed wiring)
• Verify no other high-power appliances on the same circuit are causing voltage drops
• Allow the range to cool completely for at least 30 minutes before attempting to use it again
• Clear any obstructions around the cooktop surface and ensure oven interior is clean and unobstructed
• Verify oven and cooktop doors are properly closed and latched
• Check control panel settings to ensure no lock features or demo modes are accidentally enabled
• Perform a hard reset: Turn OFF the dedicated circuit breaker for 60 seconds, then turn it back ON to allow the range's internal systems to reinitialize
• If the error persists after these steps, contact a certified GE technician or schedule a service appointment
