Safety Checks You Can Do
• Check your home's circuit breaker - ensure the breaker for your washer is in the ON position, and if tripped, switch it OFF then back ON
• Inspect the washer door for visible damage, debris, or misalignment
• Open the door fully and look for any foreign objects (lint, coins, buttons) blocking the latch mechanism and remove if found
• Ensure the door is closing completely and listen for a clicking sound when closing, which indicates the latch is engaging
• Check that the washer is not overloaded - remove some clothes and attempt the cycle again
• Verify the door is not warped by inspecting the rubber gasket for gaps or uneven pressure
• Power cycle the washer by turning off the circuit breaker for 60 seconds, then turning it back on
• Try running a cycle with the door open to see if the control panel responds (door must be closed to start, but this tests panel function)
• Check all visible wiring connections near the door latch for looseness or corrosion (do not touch electrical connectors directly)
• Consult your washer's user manual to confirm door lock location and reset procedures specific to your model number
