Safety Checks You Can Do
• Turn off the washer and check your home's circuit breaker to ensure the breaker has not tripped; reset if necessary
• Unplug the washer or turn off the breaker, wait 60 seconds, then restore power to allow the appliance to reset
• Verify the washer door or lid closes completely and latches securely before starting a cycle
• Check that you have not overloaded the drum with clothing, which can prevent proper water level sensing
• Inspect the drain hose for kinks, clogs, or improper installation that could affect drainage
• Ensure the washer is on a level surface and not tilted, as this can impact water level accuracy
• Review all control panel settings to confirm the correct wash cycle is selected
• Run a test cycle with no clothes to determine if error code 31 appears during basic operation
• Allow 5-10 minutes for the washer to sit idle after first powering on, as sensors may need time to recalibrate
• If error persists after these checks, contact a qualified GE service technician for pressure switch diagnosis and replacement
