Step 01
Signs
• Washer will not start or begin a cycle
• Door lock light remains illuminated on the control panel
• Unable to open the washer door after a cycle completes
• Beeping or alarm sounds when attempting to start the washer
• Error code E45 displays on the digital display or control panel
• Door appears stuck or difficult to open even after cycle completion
Step 02
Possible Causes
• Faulty door latch assembly or mechanical door lock mechanism
• Damaged or misaligned door strike that prevents proper latching
• Defective door lock sensor (electronic switch) failing to communicate with the control board
• Wiring issues or loose electrical connections to the door lock component
• Foreign objects or debris blocking the door latch area
• Worn out or broken door lock actuator preventing secure closure
• Control board malfunction failing to recognize door lock sensor signals
• Power surge or electrical fluctuation affecting the door lock circuit
Step 03
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Verify your home circuit breaker has not tripped; check the breaker panel and reset if necessary
• Ensure the washer door is completely closed with a firm, deliberate push until you hear or feel it latch
• Remove any items of clothing or debris that may be caught between the door and the tub
• Inspect the door strike (the metal piece the latch engages with) to confirm it is aligned and not bent
• Perform a complete reset of the washer by turning off the circuit breaker for 60 seconds, then turning it back on
• Allow 5 minutes after powering the washer back on for the system to fully reboot before attempting to start a cycle
• Check that you are not overloading the drum, as excessive weight can prevent proper door closure
• Try manually opening the door by gently pulling the handle while the washer is unplugged to ensure no obstructions
• Verify the control panel settings are appropriate for your desired wash cycle and that no special locks or child-safety features are activated
• If the door remains stuck, do not force it; consult the user manual for your specific model's emergency door release procedure
