Signs
• Washer stops mid-cycle and displays error code 35
• Water temperature does not reach expected levels during wash cycle

• Cycle will not complete or advances without proper heating
• Display panel shows error code 35 on front of machine
• Washer may drain and then stop responding

Possible Causes
• Faulty temperature sensor (thermistor) unable to read water temperature
• Defective heating element not producing hot water
• Loose or corroded electrical connections to heating element
• Failed thermal fuse preventing power to heating circuit
• Water inlet valve malfunction preventing hot water supply
• Damaged wiring harness between control board and temperature sensor
• Control board failure unable to process temperature signals
• Mineral buildup in heating element reducing efficiency (common in hard water areas)
Step 03
Safety Checks You Can Do
• Reset your washer by turning off the circuit breaker for 60 seconds, then turn it back on to clear temporary error codes
• Check that your home circuit breaker has not tripped; reset if necessary to restore 120V power
• Verify the washer door or lid is fully closed and latching properly
• Ensure the drum is not overloaded with clothes that could prevent proper water circulation
• Check that both hot and cold water inlet hoses are properly connected and turned on at the shut-off valves
• Run the drain cycle to confirm water drains properly from the tub
• Review your cycle settings to ensure a heating cycle was selected
• Allow 5-10 minutes for the washer to reset after experiencing a power fluctuation
• Unplug the washer for 60 seconds, then plug back in to perform a full system reset
• If error persists after these checks, contact a certified GE service technician for heating element and sensor diagnostics
